Internet marketing giveaways are popular today. They offer several advantages to the giver and the receiver.
The receiver gets a chance to get products that they can use for free. An obvious benefit. To do so they need to give their email address and agree to accept additional email messages. The good part of this is that they can cancel that agreement at anytime. So it’s possible to grab your free gifts and immediately cancel future emails.
The givers benefit, because if you grab one of their gifts on how to market your business using article marketing, they can assume you have a business and are at least a little interested in article marketing. They will then likely send you information on article marketing including opportunities to acquire paid for products in that niche.
This is generally a win win arrangement.
Most Giveaways also offer products for sale, and often you have to scroll to the bottom of an initial offer or two to find the “no Thanks, let me in Button.” This may fool a few first timers, and is something of a problem from my point of view. Don’t get miffed that you went to a free site and they offered you something to buy. Scroll down. The link to get in is usually near the bottom of the page. Revenues from these ads and upgrade options for both contributors and gift seekers are one of the benefits the giveaway organizers is after. Different sharing arrangements are used in different events.
They also build their lists fast with these events. A few new software programs have hit the market recently to run these giveaway events and they are popping up everywhere.
For new gift seekers, a word of caution. Scroll through these events but resist the urge to garb too many items. Like a holiday meal, its easy to have bigger eyes than stomach. While free, each of the items takes time to read and use if its to be of any value to you. Your are better off to try one or two. Similar products are likely to be offered at another event in a few weeks. So take your time, and then use what you select.
This blog tries to monitor the various events for both contributors and anyone who wants to take advantage of these events. Scroll down to my recent posts to get a heads up on current and coming events.

Hey Earl!
Great tips! With giveaways it is real easy to get sucked into downloading free gifts for hours. Instead, as you mentioned, you’re better off being picky and focusing on a few gifts that are really of interest to you (and likely to be used).

Great info here.
I agree with the idea of only picking up the products that you can put to use in a short time. It is so easy to just start grabbing everything that you see that looks interesting and this is a great way to get distracted.
You should go in with an idea of what kind of products you are looking for and just focus on the gifts that meet these requirements.
There will always be more giveaways when the time comes to look for something else to grow your business from where it is at.

Great info, Earl – a seldom-mentioned side effect of downloading too many gifts is that they become daunting and people don’t end up even reading a few of them. Stick to those gifts you KNOW you’ll use in the next 30-60 days and you’ll do much better!

Earl,
Great info on what newcomers should do when they go into these sites. Yes, they can be overwhelming at first and somewhat daunting, but as you say, you can ‘leave’ anyone’s list at anytime.
What I like to do with these events is have a few messages already set up in my autoresponder so that the people joining these lists will have a reason to stick around and not unsubscribe right away. I feel that if I provide good content in the emails, they aren’t going to unsubscribe and I have a better chance of growing that relationship with them.
Thanks for keeping us updated on the events.
